Team work!

Hello! I’m David Curland and I am this year’s Co-President of SBici along with Edvin Nuñez, we are both Seniors at Santa Barbara High School. This year we plan to support ourselves instead of relying on the Dons Net Café for funding. We are planning on doing this by asking for donations for services that include bicycle repairs, tune-ups, and bike sales.

We are also looking forward to an entertaining experience for all of our SBici members that include more bicycle rides around town and maybe even mountain biking in our area. We already have more participants in our club and have participated in SOL Festival as bike valets and will also be volunteering at Open Streets.  Our biggest goal is to get 2 and possibly even 3 students to Seattle, WA for the annual National Youth Bike Summit.

We are also involved in the School Enterprise Challenge and have submitted our business plan and have just received a mentor.  Stay tuned for more information on this.  We will be entering SBici in the UCLA Project Echo and Oakland Business Plan competitions this year.

Have a good working bike in your garage that you’d like to donate?

Please drop off at the Dons Net Café, Room 70-faces Canon Perdido. We will continue to give bikes to people who do not have them at different events but will also be having bike sales and a bike auction this year at the Dons Net Café’s annual grand opening, December 12th.  More information to follow.

We hope you stop by any Thursday at our Nopal location (old Auto Shop) and say “Hi,” and meet the entire SBici crew.  We are working on Dons Net Café activities every day from 11:15 to 12:14 in Room 70 or SBici location on Nopal.

Hope to see you at Open Streets!  Viva Calles!!!

Thank you and ride on!
