Doin' What We Do Best
Every year, members of the Dons Net Café collectively complete well over 5,500 community service hours by participating in our free tax site, VITA and other Ethonomical (Ethical Economics) activities.
Do Ubuntu is a nonprofit organization that helps children and their mothers who are infected with the HIV virus. We support more than 500 hundred children in South Africa by selling the bracelets; "one bracelet at a time" regular price is $15 and $12 for students.
Roots and Shoots - Dons Net Café is extremely proud to be involved with Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots program, which we have been a part of for 5 years now. We love to fly our Peace Dove whenever we get a chance and our Coordinator, Ms. B. was named "Roots and Shoots" Leader of the year 2010.
Tax Preparation: The Dons Net Café offers a free tax service called VITA
(Volunteer Income Tax Assistance). We are beginning our 18th year! We were the first high school in the nation to be awarded an EFIN, which allows us to e-file directly to Ogden, Utah. We have been named the "best site to be emulated for quality and utility" by the Internal Revenue Service.
The Dons Net Café is committed to green practices, keeping our environment clean, and helping our planet to heal. We regulary participate in E-Waste clean up on our campus and have a huge Marbourg donated bin to collect school and student e-waste throughout the year. Easy. We also collect old cell phones to keep the Congo safe and help endangered elephants and Gorillas. Please drop off or send in your old phones, broken is fine!
We are very proud to have two CATALYSTs (California Taking Action for Learning through Youth Service Teams) in the Dons Net Café
