The Catalyst Program
We are very proud to have three CATALYSTs (California Taking Action for Learning through Youth Service Teams) in the Dons Net Café; our CEO-Ana, VP of Sublimation-Juan, and VITA Volunteer Jesus. A CATALYST serves as a changemaker and a leader for service learning. CATALYSTs meet at yearly retreats to discuss plans and reflect on service in education in order to change policy in order to make better schools in California. There are 16 CATALYSTs in the State of California.
The first CATALYST retreat will be held in San Diego. The goals for each CATALYST are:
- Learn more about yourself within a service learning setting
- Recognize values and have the ability to work well in new situations.
- Learn useful organizational skills.
- Become conscientious when dealing with diversity
- Increase the development of citizenship skills so that students make a difference in the local, state, national, and world communities
