Do Ubuntu Nonprofit Organization
Do Ubuntu is a nonprofit organization that helps children and their mothers who are infected with the HIV virus. We support these children and also the women who are employed to make the bracelets we sell. We help out by gluing and assembling the story cards and pouches tht the bracelets are sold in. What we touch; is sold in Bloomingdales!
We support more than 500 hundred children in South Africa by selling the bracelets; "one bracelet at a time" regular price is $15 and $12 for students. All the profits made go to the children in Africa; allowing them to receive medical assistance, school supplies, food and shelter. Louise Hogarth the Director and creator of Angels in the Dust started this amazing Campaign.
What inspires this campaign and our involvement is the children, their security, their health, their happiness, and most importantly their chance to have a different and better life.
The Dons Net Cafe designed a beautiful Do Ubunt shirt that costs $20 at the Dons Net Café! We also wrote and made a You-Tube video dedicated to Louise and the Do Ubuntu campaign. Check it out, really is inspiring.
Our goal is to raise more money than what was raised last year and hopefully traveling to South Africa one day so we can visit the Botshabeloo orphanage located an hour away from Johannesburg. The “Do Girls” are exceedingly passionate about what they do and are honored to work with Louise Hogarth and Monique Watkins of OrphanBracelet.org.
We get to Skype with the orphanage on occasion and are in process of creating a Virtual Classroom using Second Life. When talking to the orphans we asked them what they wanted for Christmas and a young man said, “A soccer ball”. Our hearts dropped; it was shocking for us to hear what they wanted… Out of anything they could have asked for, they chose a soccer ball. We had a connection right away and we cried because of how strong it was. They got that ball and we learned a lesson.
