Clean Business Investment Summit 2010
On Friday the 13th Dons Net Café attended the Clean Business Investment Summit 2010 (CBIS). The Summit is about providing guidance to companies and strengthens relationships and opportunities by building social, green, clean tech, sustainable enterprises. Dons Net Café had their own booth where many of the attendees were curious and eager to know more of what we do. From the many Entrepreneurs that attended, our own Congresswoman Lois Capps was one of the first ones to visit our booth and was very proud that we were there. Lois also gave the opening speech where she mentioned that the Dons Net Café were the future business leaders (and how we always show up). The CBIS was a great opportunity for us to start promoting our business and start training the new ventures’ and of course have them meet our business partners. Many gave speeches and introduced their business but also gave tips on branding, sustainability, and market growth that Dons Net Café is eager to this year. As always Dons Net Café was put on the spot, our teacher Lee Ann Knodel (aka Ms. B) was given an award, the First Annual Legacy Award, from Christie Communications, our business partners and Ms. B. also gave a quick but touching speech of her experience teaching the DNC. The students with the green ties were also called to go up the stage and show the other entrepreneurs how branding is done. All in all the Dons Net Café had a great time at the Clean Business Investment Summit learning from all the social entrepreneurs and their businesses. Thanks to Alissa for inviting us and making sure we had our own table. Alissa always looks out for us and we appreciate her so much.-Sandra Padron, VP of PR.
On August 13, 2010, the Dons Net Cafe attended the Clean Business Investment Summit
at UC Santa Barbara. During the event, many companies spoke about the importance of environmentaly friendly businesses. Also, several speakers were also invited including the keynote speaker, Udair Jatar, founder of the Blue Earth Network and expert on clean businesses and emerging trends.Mr. Jatar spoke about how sustainability, innovation and iconic branding can can boost sustainable brands of the future. He also gave the audience several key iconic businesses as an example to becoming an iconic brand. For example, is Gatorade. Gatorade was first started when a group of college professors from the University of Florida developed a sports drink that would hydrate the football players for a full game. The product was created so that players can perform at their fullest. It was then sold to college soccer players and other athletes until it became popular. At first, Gatorade started out small, with the company and its investors having nothing to lose. But now, with careful investment, Gatorade is now an iconic business. Written by, Carl LLanos
*Sustainability can help further a brand into an iconic business by making the product psychologically, physically, personally fit for the consumer." Udair Jatar
