We are proud to share that our VITA coordinators this year are Jesus Tarrazas and Jenny Aguilar. Together the have tought the skills needed for 36 students to pass their IRS Volunteer Certification test, all during high school lunch periods. We have 43 total volunteers and this includes greeters and alumni, and of course our Bob and Ms. B. This is pur 19th year operationg and still we are named the best tax assistance site to be used for quality and utility by the IRS. This site was the first to be awarded EFIN (Electric Filing ID Number ) in the USA. This video was sent by the IRSto every high school in the nation about the SBHS/ROP[ tax site. This student run class is greate for scholarships: in fact, it has the highest scholarship rate in the entire Santa Barbara County.
Do you qualify for ETIC?
The ETIC (Earned Income TaxCredit) is a great way to boost income for low-tax payers. Workers who are raising one child and have income of less than $`36,052 with valid SSN number ( or $41,132 for married folks) can get refunds up to $3,094! What if a family has three or more kids? $5,751! This will really help out families, so please spread the word! How about CTC?
The CTC (Child Tax Credit) is a federal tax credit worth up to $1,000. This credit is for low-and moderate-income working families. It's refundable, which means it doesn't just reduce the tax you owe, it gives the money directly to you. How do you qualify? Your child must be under 17 years of age as of December 31st 2011 Earned income (from your labor) above $3,000, and have valid SSN or ITIN are also required.
