Dons Net Cafe was invited to attend a women’s conference at the Karpeles Manuscript Library, located on Anapamu Street, February 6th. We listened to two great speakers, Diana Haskins and Jane Weidman. They spoke passionately about helping women all over the world; they started in Afghanistan and are moving to Haiti and other countries. They showed videos of the poverty these people live in, the circumstances they are forced to live in just to survive. Jane and Diana had different ways of helping these harsh circumstances, from teaching them accounting skills, literary skills, agriculture, and there rights. Their compassion for this project has touched me deeply, I saw women in these videos suffering for no fault of there own. Some women imprisoned for not wanting to marry who they were sold to. Children picking up trash from their polluted river to recycle for money, children living under cardboard boxes, an eleven year old caring for a house of five because their parents died. These people are suffering so much, and it cost us so little to make there life better. For just $40 dollars you could feed a child for a year. So I am asking anyone who reads this to think about donating to this cause, it helps defeat poverty. Visit this website to learn more www.AADH.org, or email us.

It was great to see the Dons Net Cafe so well represented at the United Nations Association meeting on Empowering Women and Children Around the World. Keep up the great work you are doing. The Weidemann Foundation is accepting donations for Haiti. Go to www.CreateGlobalChange.org. 100% of the donation goes to help women become economically self sufficient through microloans. This has a positive effect on their abilitiy to provied education, housing, food and healthcare for their children.

Wow, that's amazing. $40 is $4,000 in those countries. Imagine the impact we could have on their economy if we were able to get even as much as 30 people to donate that much.
