Interested in Federal Savings Bonds? You can directly purchase bonds

with the Form 8888, which allows you to directly deposit money into a

separate account. With Form 8888, you can invest in bonds with the

preparation of your tax return.

 

Savings Bond Instructions

 

 

 

Form 8888

 

l      Complete Line 1a, 2a, or 3a (amount to be deposited in the

account) with a dollar amount, not exceeding the total refund, that is

a multiple of $50, but not more than $5000.

 

l      The remaining dollar amount must be deposited to another

financial account, such as a savings or checking account.

 

l      Enter the following routing number on Line 1b, 2b, or 3b:

 

l      043736881

 

l      Check the “Savings” box on Line 1c, 2c, or 3c

 

l      Enter the following in the account number space on Line 1d, 2d, or 3d:

 

l      BONDS

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Who to call for Non-receipt of Savings Bonds

 

l      First advise the taxpayer to check the status of the refund on

www.irs.gov or by calling 1-800-829-1954.

 

l      If the taxpayer does not receive the bonds 3 weeks after the

tax return has been processed, they should contact the Treasury Retail

Securities Site in Pittsburgh at 1-800-245-2804
